Aiki-Immersion
I've been doing Aikido for just over 2 years, but I seem to be having some Aiki-revelations lately. Slowly I've come to realize how much my participation in Aikido is benefitting me and I'm trying to extend my involvement....so, here I am. When I'm feeling bad there is just something about throwing people (and being thrown) that makes it all better!
I practice at a small dojo, with a sensei that is knowledgable, kind and has a great sense of humor (which I'm sure is beneficial when working with me). I've gone to several seminars, held at my dojo, and would really like to start going to more...to get a better feel for working with a variety of people and from other systems.

Re: Aiki-Immersion
That is my plan...and I appreciate the push. Unfortunately it tends to be the other arenas of life that get in the way....oh, yeah, and being entirely too self-conscious (another area Aikido is helping me with - you can only only be so self-conscious when you're just trying not to get hurt .

Re: Aiki-Immersion
A word of advice when attending seminars or visiting other dojo:
You will make friends everywhere you go if you enjoy taking ukemi and show that enjoyment clearly. Everyone loves an enthusiastic uke. If you seem mainly interested in being nage they may wonder about one-upmanship, but I have not yet found a dojo that doesn't welcome someone who loves being thrown. (Just make it clear if your ability to take certain falls is limited.)

Re: Aiki-Immersion
Welcome to aikiweb Heather. It's good to see that you're wanting to spread your wings and stretch yourself a bit now. I've certainly enjoyed seeing your growth and enjoyment in your practice.
Please pass on my regards to Paul and the others at Yobushin Dojo.

Re: Aiki-Immersion
I'm already making attempts to secure things in Bloomington so I can (hopefully) spread my wings in AZ in May!
I really appreciate the support I've gotten from you and Paul....I definately have only good things to say about my Aikido experiences so far.

Re: Aiki-Immersion
Thank you...though I must admit I've been visiting the site for awhile...I just hadn't taken the "introduction" step.
The seems to be a highly and frequently recommended site for a vast amount of Aikido information.
