Very good, if short, seminar. His aikido is impeccable, imho. I am concerned about his health; sending him positive thoughts.

Good video. You cannot learn how to throw a punch without first learning to take one. Equally you cannot learn how to take a punch without learning how to throw one. It works both ways. This applies to anger as well. Remember read with your eyes and prepare to fail. Read with you heart.

What sort of nonsense is this? Did the phrases Remember read with your eyes and prepare to fail/Read with your heart etc .Did these phrases come from a Fortune Cookie in side a Chinese Takeaway by chance? Somebody somewhere help me out on Mr Robinsons blog.Am I missing something or what?Joe.

A Chinese takeaway and a pack of Guinness makes for a good night in, and it also helps to ease away the confusion of some of the deeper mind boggling comments.

I see Seagal's sporting one of those "here's where my chin used to be" - beards.
I think he looks better with the beard, no criticism.

He was out of breath after the bow in.

i kept looking at the phrase and realize that over this side of the pond we called it "takeout" and you folks over there called "takeaway". The phrase "takeaway" brought tachi dori, tanto dori, and jo dori to mind, which are weapon take away practices. so if someone comes at you with a dish of kung pao chicken, what sort of techniques would be appropriate? or even a General Tso's chicken (why would a general spending his time doing chicken instead of fighting a war or two?). or a peking duck, or god forbid, a pu pu platter. or even the most cruel attacks of dim sum. i fear that all of my martial trainings over the years are not adequate to meet such chinese street attacks.

It looks like Seagal is not able to sit in seiza or bow in a proper way anymore. Very sad.

In my opinion- such a flippant remark is very disrespectful to someone whom has done as much for spreading aikido as has as much skill as probably anyone posting here. There are a couple of senior people at my dojo whom due to knee issues (or actual replacements) cannot sit in seiza or perform a formal bow. Indeed, Ikeda sensei since his knee replacement does not usually do a formal bow either.

I do remember hearing that he had a knee injury as a your man. Perhaps, that in conjunction with his age and obvious weight gain have aggravated that issue. Who here can say? If one doesn't like the man, his films or something about his character that is fine. We certainly all have our opinions. He has put himself out there for public consumption to a certain degree especially when one is making movies.

However, to make a snide comment like that is beneath him as a 7th dan, aikido or this forum. Moreover, there often seems to be a double standard concerning Seagal sensei as opposed to others of similar rank who are also human beings and as a result have issues too. They are just not as much in the spot light so may not as low hanging fruit as Seagal sensei often seems to be.

Having a pop at seagal is almost an institution. I doubt Id be doing aikido if it wasnt for him. So hes done a bunch of crap films.....and? Some of them were great too!

Speculating why he wasnt kneeling etc...who cares....maybe he has an injury? Maybe he twisted it getting out the car who knows.

Christian Tissier wouldn't be kneeling either because his knee is screwed.

The man hasn't taken care of himself, his skill has regressed(same finger locks and irimi nage's from the early 90's but worse) and he has shown little moral character over the years. He is leaving himself wide open to ridicule at this point and no amount of fictious rank will protect him from that.
