Aikidoka in Iowa or Wisconsin

Hello to all.
I will be bouncing around from hotel to hotel in Iowa and Wisconsin for the next two months.

Can anyone recommend dojo in these two states?
I have looked at the dojosearch, I'm just trying to get the human angle.

I can speak only for Madison, WI; don't know if you'll be there. While my wife and I lived there, I came upon quite a nice dojo, an ASU dojo, run by John Stone and Robin Cooper Senseis. Ha! Just saw that children's classes are run by a member of our very own community here, Mark Uttech. Uttech Sensei also has his own dojo in Marshall, Wisconsin.

At any rate, I have never trained there, but was impressed with Stone Sensei and with the outpouring of his student community in helping build their new dojo. Stone Sensei and Ron Meyers co-wrote the book Aikido in America.

Although I don't know the Wisconsin aikido dojos, I can recommend several dojos in Iowa. My favorite is Diana Harris' dojo at the University of Iowa Aikikai, which has a good number of students and is happy to welcome visitors. I know Larry Mendenhall from seminars and understand that his dojo in Cedar Rapids is also quite good. And you would be welcome at our small dojo in Grinnell, should you find yourself passing through our neck of the woods. Beyond that, I know of very small dojos in Fairfield and Des Moines.

I cast a second vote for Diana Harris Sensei at the University of Iowa. She has always welcomed, and tolerated, me and my fellow Aikidoka. They are good people.

You should try the Aikido of Greater Milwaukee Dojo, in menomonee falls, on the outskirts of milwaukee, its a great place to train. the website is www.aikidokami.com
