oyo waza
Can anyone recommend a good tape on oyo waza?
Also, has anyone seen the doshu tape on the subject and can comment? Is it understandable since it is currently only in Japanese?
I have Saotome's tape on oyo henka and it is good but is more henka waza oriented.

Forgive my limited aikido vocabulary, but just what is oyo? I downloaded some video clips with oyo in the title but didn't see anything different than stuff we normally do in class.
thanks,

Oyo waza generally refer to advanced and/or application techniques.

Aaahhhh, thanks. Just what types of thing would you expect to find under the oyo waza heading?

Actually, there is a pretty good one that I saw by Mitsugi Saotome Sensei called Oye Henka Waza. It is publihed by Akido Today Magazine. It may be the best video that he has put out.
Look in the VIDEOS portion of aikiweb.

In my limited knowledge, I believe that Oyo Waza in Aikikai language describes the switching to a different technique when met by resistance from the partner.

My understanding is that henka waza is variations or flowing from one technique to another (sometimes due to resistance).
Oya on the other hand is practical applications of kihon waza. Reversals are kaeshi waza. I believe there is some overlap in oyo and henka waza.
