Aikido lessons explanation

In Aikido world well known pins from ikkyo to gokyo. This pins called 'lessons' also. I look for explanation of this 'lessons' from different perspectives and different teachers.

I appreciate any info about that - own thoughts, your teachers words, reading materials. If you'd like to answer please share source of your opinion.

You want to know why the word "lesson" was used? It's because "kyo" (教) in Japanese literally means lesson. Some incredibly bad translator must have translated it that way at some point. Then, some gullible oriental fetishist aikido student must have read something deeper into it. I repeat "lesson" is a poor translation, nothing more, nothing less.

As for my source, I credit 27 years of studying Japanese, 7 years of living in Japan, and 9 years as a full-time translator.

I apologise in advance for being grumpy and possibly calling your teacher a "gullible oriental fetishist".

I hope that from ikkyo to gokyo are some ideas behind of those. I can't be sure about that so I started this thread. Actually it might be only ways to lock joints in Aikido way. Or maybe this so called 'lessons' gives pictures of different things for example different kind of attack treatment.

In the beginning of learning Aikido they are ways to practicing keeping your balance during movement. Also unbalancing your opponent and controlling your opponent.

This is enough for beginners to understand. As you advance you will discover more benefits from practicing these these techniques.
