Question Dojo marketing that worked?

My question for you the reader is what was the first advertising venue that attracted you to your dojo? Note - I'm not asking why you started practicing because we all know that Aikido is just that cool. What got you to go look at the dojo in the first place?

Was it a yellow pages ad, a web site, a newspaper ad, a public demonstration, a friend, the sign out front, or something else?

P.S. - If you practice another martial art and are cruising the Aikiweb Forums, chime in here.

Re: Dojo marketing that worked?

I have run two polls in the past to, perhaps, help answer your question:

How did you find your first aikido dojo? - 2/11/2006
http://www.aikiweb.com/polls/results.html?poll_id=310

How did you find your first aikido school? - 11/9/2002
http://www.aikiweb.com/polls/results.html?poll_id=138

Hope that helps,

-- Jun

Re: Dojo marketing that worked?

Thank you, Jun.

I didn't even think to search the past polls for similar information.

Re: Dojo marketing that worked?

Someone at work mentioned wanting to try Aikido, having done Taekwondo in the past I was curious and did a web search to find out about it, looked cool ( ) so did another search for a dojo near where I lived, made a call to find out training times etc and I'm still at it 4 years later Most newcomers to our dojo find us via the club website.
