Book of Aikido terms recommendations?

A native-English speaker has joined the Dojo I practice in in Japan and he asked me to recommend for him a book that will explain the names of the stances/techniques/etc. Since I practiced previously with English speakers in the US I've never read books like that (I usually go for the philosophy books) so I don't know what to recommend to him.

Does anyone know of any good books like that? He specifically said he doesn't want something that tries to teach techniques, just something that teaches the Japanese terminology.

Conventional wisdom is to ask your teacher. In Japan, he/she probably isn't familiar with English sources, but vocabulary will differ by organization. I don't have them in front of me, but books I seem to recall did a good job on language include:

Aikido Exercises for Teaching and Training by C. M. Shifflett

Aikido by Ueshiba Kisshomaru (although a lot of the terms aren't actually used in the dojo I've been in though, KOTE MAWASHI/HINERI, e.g.)

It's difficult to find, but keep your eyes open for a copy of Budo Jiten by Fredrick Lovret. It's a Japanese-English dictionary for budo terminology, and it's excellent.

Top Notch Dictionary for Sale

My first suggestion would be to check with your organization/sensei. Terminology will vary from org. to org. and possibly from dojo to dojo. See if their is a glossary produced that a student can buy...our org. makes one.

These and the others suggested will probably get you pretty close though.
