Re: Music?

After a hard nights work, theres nothing better than drinking fresh coffee with cream and downloading a Ryan Adams solo gig you attended (especially when the moody sod was all chatty and fun).

They're all screaming about the rock n roll, but I would say that it's getting old. - REFUSED.

Re: Music?

Converge - No Heroes.
The Hope Conspiracy - File 03 EP.
Fear Before The March Of Flames - Odd How People Shake.
Fear Before The March Of Flames - Art Damage.

Thank god Converge got it right again this time, with the state of hardcore these days I couldnt stand another 'You Fail Me' type effort. It's stunning though!

Re: Music?

As strange as it may sound i have mostly been flitting between

Bob Dylan - The times they are a changin'

and

Mozart: a best of album that has a couple of piano concerto, a few violin concerto and his requiem, oh and the birth/marriage of figaro (love that one)

Re: Music?

I dont think its that strange. Someone once told me that Mozartwas the last genius composer and while I kind of see what he meant (the amazing mathematical ability etcetc) I'd argue that songwriters such as Dylan and Bryan Wilson are the 20th century equivalent.

Re: Music?

Hi,

had to stop by this thread because I bought a really nice CD yesterday, well in a weird way nice... Sting singing songs by John Dowland (1563-1626!), accompanied by a lute... Now I love Dowland and I've heard plenty of counter tenors singing them, it was a bit of a shock to hear Sting start the first one in his recognizable voice lol. But once you get used to it he's really not doing a bad job, actually brilliant timing I think.

I just can't resist a lyric like:

In darkness let me dwell,
The ground shall Sorrow be;
The roof Despair to bar
All cheerful light from me...

Oddly cheering in a way...
kvaak

Smile Music

I was reading an article today that says scientists have proved that music can help to motivate and improve the performance of atheletes and sportsmen. It then went on to list some tracks that would inspire them to train harder.

It got me thinking, what music do I listen to on my walk to the dojo that makes me want to train harder than I already want to.

Here's 10 tracks that popped into my head, although I could keep going to 100.

mr torture / helloween
dawn of victory / rhapsody
within a mile of home / flogging molly
ace of spades / motorhead
monkey wrench / foo fighters
for whom the bell tolls / metallica
bark at the moon / black sabbath
welcome to the jungle / guns and roses
bat out of hell / meat loaf
run to the hills / iron maiden

I know my list has a metal theme. What songs would you listen to?
