Cheng Hsin - Master Peter Ralston in UK

Just to let any fans of Master Peter Ralston know (author of Cheng Hsin: The Principles of Effortless Power), he will be in Swansea, Wales for a full weeks camp in June 2006.

He will cover his unique art of Cheng Hsin, mainly exploring the T'ui Shou side but also covering a little ontological work (the study of being). Some of the Cheng Hsin T'ui Shou techniques will be very familiar to Aikidoka as Peter studied with Robert Nadeau. Aikidoka feel very much at home with Cheng Hsin.

Cheng Hsin is not just an eclectic mix of styles however but a valid art in its own right:

"When I began putting together Cheng Hsin T'ui Shou, I wanted to create an art based on fundamental observations of physics, perception, intent, impulse, and energy -- an art that gears itself to meet any situation because it is founded on understanding the principles in which interaction takes place. I wanted an art that is adaptable and well-designed, forged through training and techniques but designed to teach something beyond the form. Cheng Hsin T'ui Shou is such an art."

Peter Ralston

The camp is open to all people from all styles and assumes no prior knowledge. If you would like more information please go to www.chenghsin.org.uk or contact the organiser Mike Hart at mike.hart@ntlworld.com. Please feel free to ask any questions I'm only too happy to help

Best Regards
Mike

Re: Cheng Hsin - Master Peter Ralston in UK

Fantastic, I wanted to go last year but, um... I'd already bought my Glastonbury ticket (one of Europe's largest festivals of music, theatre and circus my American friends )

I've been on the Cheng Hsin website and read his promo' leaflets but still don't know what to make of it all. Has anyone here had any direct contact with the man himself?

Re: Cheng Hsin - Master Peter Ralston in UK

Ben,

I should have thought before posting. What you're looking for is other people with experience of Peter who have aikido training. In Cardiff there's a guy who trains with us called Mike Hawkey. He hasn't had any experience with Peter but comes to the Cheng Hsin classes in Swansea.

Kevin Magee is the main man to speak to. He holds a 4th Dan under the legendary Saito Sensei and is currently training with Peter. If you would like to contact these people please let me know so I can put you in touch.

Mike
