The Tablet of Destiny
Gives us the fate of all
But only the gods can read it
I implore the tengu
High on Mount Kurama
As mentors and teachers
For those on the Path
To intercede on my behalf and
To tell me of my fate
I feel their ghost energy
Vibrate through me as they visit
But, they only sit and watch
Perhaps this is their message
Perhaps I am not worthy
Perhaps I am only dreaming
I sit, as they do, and enter into
The Great Deep
But the answer, as like the tengu
And the Tablet
Remains inscrutable, mysterious
Perhaps seeking immortality
And life's ultimate answers
Is for actual sennin And not for a mere mortal
Such as myself
Still, who does not crave
To know their ultimate fate?
Especially if it is written
By some other's hand!
