Some days I am like Aikiman; I can flatten uke with a a thought. Then on other days I'm a n00b.

I hate having to learn this Aikido nonsense when I'd rather be working on aiki-do. Why learn technique when body skills are 90% of it all? Or rather why focus on it so much?

And Sensei's talking about training up for shodan. I still have zero interest in it. This year, next year, five years, ten years, never, I don't care. Better things to do.

Tim Gerrard Says:
With grading I had the same attitude as you, I was ungraded for the first 4 years of training. I then realised that I was giving nothing back to my Sensei or school - their efforts were not bearing fruit as it were. So I graded and became a Shodan, and realised that your whole perception shifts. You get taught slightly differently, you're taught the little nuances of techniques to really refine your aikido. Do it, it'll be the best thing you ever do - trust me!
