Straight Face O'Sensei's ki

Book photographs, online photographs, writings, and commentaries from members in here, all get me thinking about the possibilities of ki graspings in accordance with aikdio training
I do not claim the 'feel' of ki developed in my body, nor have i attended any aikido classes in years, but has any of my comrade forum members ever felt ki flowing through their bodies after studying with ki masters or ki instructors?
What's your individual explanation of ki ?
I'm endeavoring to learn more about ki from a scholastic standpoint, for i have no ki instructors in my local vicinity

Re: O'Sensei's ki

Everybody has ki flowing through them all the time. The trick is to attune and sensitize ones' self to that ki. It is recognizable through feel but in no other way. To enhance one's ki awareness requires much practice.

Re: O'Sensei's ki

Hi quick reply try looking for the book called " Ki in Daily Life" By Koichi Tohei, he is the head of Ki no Kenyukai, or ki society and his book explains all about ki. It's a wonderful book really

Re: O'Sensei's ki

Do a forum search on 'ki' or 'kokyu' and you'll find plenty of posts of people as Dan Harden, Mike Sigman, Erick Mead and several others concerning this fine subject.

Ki has yet to have a textbook definition for me; I personally interpret Ki as spirit.

Just read the first 3 pages or so, the conversation got derailed after that.

By the way I read "Ki in Daily Life", it barely scratches the surface of what proper martial qi/jin should be, but gives you the first step to the door ("relax"). Also it has a lot of philosophical stuff about mental attitude which is very helpful in the general "life-issues" sense but could be misleading if one is pursuing ki as a physical skill.

If you want to read more about the study of ki, I think Qigong books are going to be more useful than aikido books.... probably not a good idea to practise qigong without a teacher though, for safety reasons.
