Hey all,
I would like to start a thread about where Aikido was used in either a physical situation or use to diffuse a situation. I love to read stories like these as they always give me a little boost.
Thanks!
Mike
Ok here is one. Once when I had given up Aikido in favor of BJJ I was grappling with a guy pretty much full force. We had ended up in a position kind of like Judo guys do with one hand on a collar and one on a sleeve. His grip was more toward my stomach. We were at a stand still. I had a thought I would try somethin "new" (or old??) I started rotating toward my right to get him following. Of course soon he started trying to resist by going to his right. Suddenely I switched directions and rotated with him. At the same time I took the hand near my stomach and did a Shiho nage where I went down to one knee. This guy had never trained in that sort of tech. But it made him do a soaring high breakfall I had never been able to make anyone do during Aikido practice.I knew that he wasn't just jumping for me. I was thrilled and that made me want to start back on the path toward Aikido.
