Unhappy I miss aikido, pandemic woes

The last time I played/practiced was before the pandemic.

I am scrolling through Aikido videos in YouTube just to rekindle the taste of the mat.

Now, there is the Omicron variant and not forgetting about the deadlier Delta variant of COVID19... Ugh! Hopefully this ends soon.

I'm doing some basic exercises at home. Not doing rolls though. I don't know now how many I can make before I get dizzy.

This video was taken before the pandemic broke out, this was the last time my friends and I had a good time.

The dojo belongs to my friend so we stayed the night and in the morning... Aikido again.

Can't wait to hit the mat again. Soon! Soon!

Re: I miss aikido, pandemic woes

I remembered the last time I've stepped on the aikido mats. My experience was similar. It was the Friday just before Mafch Break, almost 2 years ago. I subbed in to take over for Sensei that day because Sensei was called away for an emergency meeting.

After class, Sensei came in to tell us that we had to temporarily close due to new pandemic rules coming into effect immediately.

Since then, a lot has happened. I very dearly missed aikido practice. I often think and imagine practicing again.

dongaleb, you gotta find a soft ground to do your rolls. I do my rolls on my bed to either reach the window or the bedroom door. Please check on me every now and then to make sure I don't accidentally roll out the window because I hate breakfalls!

Re: I miss aikido, pandemic woes

I got back to doing martial arts in person in late Spring 2021. In July of 2022, I joined a new Aikido dojo and went roughly every other week (time conflict with classes at the JKD school I go to). But that all came to a crashing halt when I tested positive for covid on December 3, 2022. It's eight months later and yes, I have Long Covid. I can watch my non-Aikido classes on Zoom, and do a little bit on camera, but Aikido is out of the question for who knows how long. I still keep watching videos. And it's a "pandemic woe" because the pandemic is still on.
