Rotator Cuff Injury and Recovery

Hello everyone.

I was wondering if anyone else out there has had rotator cuff surgery to re-attach a tear. If so, what kind of rehab did you do, and how long was it before you were able to get back on the mat?

My lesson learned? From now on, when something hurts THAT bad, go to the doctor's instead of training through it. heh.....

Did do the surgery, but did the physical therapy rehabilitation. Isolated motions with light weight. Worked for me.

Visit the physical therapy sites for exercises.

Keep alignment and hands in front of the body. Also, don't sleep on an overhead arm.

Good luck. Recovery is slow, but possible.

Re: Rotator Cuff Injury and Recovery

Need the surgery, as the tear is more than 50%. According to my orthopaedic; (and what I've read) because the area is not very vascular (not a lot of blood flow), it takes longer to heal, and that at my level of tear, it more than likely won't (especially since I'm still currently training).

What I'm wondering is, if anyone out there has had the surgery, supplemented the traditional PT with additional therapies (accupuncture, massage, TENS, etc) and what were their results as far as healing time and pain levels. Thanks again!
