Non Traditional training methods/Drills

While posting in the Sport is the new budo thread, I suggested a few drills I like to play around with that I felt were helpful. Basically they were modified sport drills that I found useful in developing those skills, slightly switched to focus on very specific aikido ranges. These are the posts

It got me thinking, how many other people are already using non traditional practice and creating their own drills to help their training. What kind of drills do you do?

Re: Non Traditional training methods/Drills

I am going to watch the thread for a while as you and I seem to train so much alike that I think I'd be redundant in my approach. As you know, I primarily work the clinch and pummelling as alternatives to develop skill within that range, underhooks really are a variation of ikkyo.

I like these drill suggestions. To some degree we have tried similar drills we came up with at our dojo. Thanks Don. I'll suggest these to my sensei and I'm sure we'll try them..

Sounds like normal training to me.
Is that "non-traditional"?
Perhaps I am the "non-traditional" one.
Yes, keep it alive, keep it real (or at least close).

We come up with new drills weekly. You can check some of them out on youtube.
