hi frm philippines

hi everyone m new here and planning on training in aikido. abt myself i have trained in jeet kune do for the past 12 years and now planning to train in aikido but as iv researchd on the net there are many styles of aikido like yoshinkan which is the hard style, aikikai, iwama ryu,ki aikido and tomiki. iv also read from other forums that it is not a good source of selfdefense bec. the attacks are pre arranged.... i hope you guys dont find my question offensive... i jst want to be sure of something that iam investing my time on...by the way im interested in the selfdefense aspect of the art and not the meditative part of it. any advice or suggestion would really help me a lot. thanks
