I read an old thread about the meaning of this term and it was an interesting thread indeed.....started by Ron I believe...I cant find him...yes I have been away for some time...The original thread was done in 2004....and from what I read we had no clear understanding of the term? Have we got anywhere with this...Jun described it well. But to the point the origanal thread was about rank and who says onegaishimasu....I wanna say from my small opinion is that it is based on context and timing as to how you translate the meaning. When I show up for training all my seniors say onegaishimasu befor we even get changed but on the mat it has a different meaning "context" again. Sorry to start an old thread but I enjoyed the topic. Ron where are we with this?
