Comparisons to elements in nature, overcoming those elements, or surviving those elements is a common staple of training.
Trying to get those who resist to ride the wave, cut though the wind, or even go with the flow is a newcomers worst nightmare for the first years of Aikido practice.
How does the elemental training or ride the wave, may the wind be at your back, or go with the flow apply to the people you train with.
Or is a sack of potatoes, a dead tree falling, and a car wreck off the top of the Empire state building a more apt phase to incur?
