New Post on Ueshiba Morihei's Solo Jo Practice

I've posted a new blog concerning Ueshiba Morihei's solo practice with jo.

Re: New Post on Ueshiba Morihei's Solo Jo Practice

I very much appreciate the insight from your perspective.

The part of the video in question: https://youtu.be/6zgi9E9WYeM?t=312

It looks to have been shot at 18fps and transferred at 24fps, so setting it at 0.75 speed seems to be more realistic. Even slowed down, he moves very fast when he wishes to. I wonder what it was like to see and experience him in person.

Naturally having something useful to say is like natural responses during training: It takes much practice.

Thank you for this!

Minor nit: first sentence, "weapons" (plural) not "weapon's" (possessive).

Come to think of it, solo weapon (singular) - otherwise an oxymoron.

A number of years ago I researched the frame rate of movie cameras during the later stages of Osense's life and the most common frame rate was12 fps.

Go ahead, tread on me.

I was just watching an old video of Tomiki Sensei doing solo forms and basic exercises and it looks as if I was in error, and 0.5 may be closer to the correct speed. Thanks for confirming that.
