Question for Tomiki Ryu Aikidoka

Has anyone conducted a study of the techniques commonly employed in Tomiki Ryu randori competition? I am interested in identifying the techniques most commonly applied in randori (toshu randori and/or tanto randori). I am also interested in identifying the techniques which are considered the tokui waza (favorite techniques) of superior competitors, as well as which techniques are the most effective in scoring. Is there a website containing this information or a print media source for the information? As an alternative, can anyone recommend a source for video of high skill level (national or international) Tomiki Ryu randori competitions? I would be most appreciative of any help in locating this information to assist in research. Regards, JED.

Re: Question for Tomiki Ryu Aikidoka

In both toshu randori and tanto the techniques mostly used tend to be the atemi waza followed the the uki waza. Some top level guys like to use a form of tenkai kotegaishi but this one looks nothing like the classic variation.

And of course SHOMEN-ATE is part of the ATEMI-WAZA syllabus. SHOMEN_ATE all the way!

Any of the 17 basic kata, generally starting with atemi-waza and then into something else.

The people who understand, understand prefectly.
