Quite possibly the dumbest use of center

practicing aikido everywhere, that must be the point...I am working at a company with about 50 workers. Most of them have learned the basics, whenever they see me, they attack with shomen, yokomen or tsuki - and shouting like "yeah tsukkiii"...sometimes they grab my hand and say "junte" or "katate muchi" ...sure, they do not know what they are doing or talking about, they have almost no idea about aikido, but I effected everybody...the unique problem is; I am sure they are holding me as crazy ...whatever, I have fun everywhere, and can practice tai sabaki agains employer uke's

SO true! In fact, it's bordering on scary just how many times what my dancing instructor tells me is exactly the same as what my jiujitsu/aikido/iaido instructors tells me.

Some of those really cool-looking dips and checks and sways can only be done if you're really centred and moving through the hips (I've just started to learn how to do them, and it's all MA principles).

Turning it round completely, I once did some Judo-style randori (we do it from time to time in our jiujitsu classes) with someone I know I couldn't beat (bigger, stronger, more skilled...), so I switched my brain from MA mode to ballroom dance mode and matched him step-for-step for quite some time before he finally threw me.....

I've recently gone back to school with the goal of getting into the physical therapy program. ONE of the reasons I did this was watching my father go through PT after his stroke. When they were working with him on walking it was almost word-for-word what is taught in our dojo about movement, posture and alignment. Good movement principles are universal I guess.

Wow, that is a great story! I'll have to try that some time ... although I'm terrible at ballroom dancing too!
