In Memory of O'Sensei

Today is the anniversary of The Founder's death.

Just thought I mention that.

Re: In Memory of O'Sensei

Perhaps we should remember this date as the moment the stewardship of Ueshiba Aiki, and his Aikido was transferred to us, and to the generations of loyal students to come.

Re: In Memory of O'Sensei

Glad someone on Aikiweb mentioned it Maggie. I just found out a little bit ago myself via a Facebook friend. Glad to have put fresh flowers on the shomen before class last night.

Re: In Memory of O'Sensei

Osensei is remembered around this time, along with Nidai Doshu, at the Aiki Shrine Rei-Taisai, a big Aikido festival in Iwama. It is held on Showa Day, a national holiday in Japan which usually falls around the time of the founder's death. It's the day after tomorrow this year (Thursday). There should be over three hundred people in attendance and the usual Shinto Ceremony and the current Doshu will do a hono embu -- a dedication of an Aikido demonstration within the Aiki Shrine.
