Aikido from Children's Movement?

Hello, folks.

I'm pretty new to this board, but I've been doing aikido sinc 1975 and lived in Japan in the early 1990s. Aikido Journal recently published my essay on their blog:

http://www.aikidojournal.com/?id=1985

Basically, my idea is that some very highly-skilled master noticed children's ways of escaping their handlers when they didn't want to be picked up. The master used this type of movement, added appropriate locks and aiki-jujutsu was born.

Any thoughts on this?

Best wishes.

David

Re: Aikido from Children's Movement?

David,

I just replied to your post in the thread ' Lethality Implied'. Your idea reminds me of an early sensei that told us to watch how a baby breathes as an example for us to follow. When I tried to explain to my ten year old daughter the proper way to breathe by expanding your stomach instead of the chest she told me, " But daddy that's the way I do breathe."

Thank You
David
