This seminar is a continuation of the workshops already taking place with Dan with advance level students and teachers. This will be the second time Dan is making his research into the Japanese arts and the resultant training practices of his private dojo available to students instead of teachers. Dan has been focusing his efforts on teachers. This is event is an opportunity for students to begin training. The goal is to offer a workshop in a neutral environment, with an emphasis on learning and understanding internal power and aiki in a global sense, while undertaking the difficult task of taking that first step into personal training and integration of the concepts into your own art.

The work shop will cover introductory basics of the system Dan has developed and used successfully with hundreds of practitioners from a wide range of martial arts. Dan will outline the training in such a way as to make the relevancy to martial movement immediate, clear and accessible. Included will be:
* A presentation of how the martial arts take advantage of natural and common postural failures and methods Dan has been taught and developed for building a bujutsu body that moves antithetical to the "principles" most martial arts use as their foundation for defeating the common body frame.
* How the trained body can begin to take care of itself automatically while delivery non-dedicated force to create openings in a live environment.
* An emphasis on specific training tools (solo and paired) to develop internal power, and specifically how it relates to aiki connections in a martial context.
* Creating and maintaining a structure supported on all sides and how to strengthen it with breath training exercises.
The material covered; while benefiting aikido greatly, will not be "specific" to the aiki arts, like Aikido and Daito ryu, but to many grappling or striking arts and Koryu as well, so teachers from other disciplines are welcome.

This will be a closed seminar with no pictures, video, or visitors allowed. Participants are required to fill out an application available by e-mailing Dan at homeoffice@charter.net for further details and to be considered for a spot. People may or may not be accepted by Dan's sole discretion.
Seminar fee is 135 euro for both days (no partial attendance or single days).
.
Payment in full is required and due on or before Feb. 15th to register and reserve a place for the event. There is no registration at the door. I am using Paypal for the payments. Paypal account is homeoffice@charter.net

Re: Dan Harden-Zwolle, Netherlands May 7-8

Hello Walter
I've never been to Europe and I am looking forward to it. Enough people started signing up today to assure me it's going to happen. .
Apparently it's going to be a mix of Aikido and Internal Chinese Martial arts.folks, who have either been following these discussions here or on RSF and already have met/trained with Mike and Ark or an assorted mix of professional ICMA teachers.
I am going to see if we can do some informal training Friday and Monday as well for those interested. Keep checking back here or on RSF and I will update ya'll.
Looking forward to meeting you
Dan

Just back from Zwolle, what a great weekend!

We were a bit worried we'd have some trouble with the sven, but in the end that was all just fine.

Oh, and today Dan made a big, tough mmaer cry...

It was excellent indeed! It's a pity that I had to leave so quickly when the seminar was over, no time to say goodbye to everyone, like you and The Sven!

Same feelings here.
Really enjoyed the whole weekend.

Just bit awkward that Dan worked that big man till he cried. Never seen something like that on a seminar...

Re: Dan Harden-Zwolle, Netherlands May 7-8

Hello all
One of the best times I have ever had at a seminar.
There were dire warnings of the onset of the Sven; ground shaking, an ill wind, but all it took was a lot of water to reduce the effect of the Sven.
I have heard of people who will no longer travel to europe until the Sven quiets down. Having once encountered a Sven It is an understandable fear. Me? I took another route.
Just as I was told....these dutch people are so dour...and reserved! Good grief! Whats a boy gotta do to get some laughs!
Still training, on to our fourth ten hour day!!
Cheers
Dan

Pick him up at the airport in your taxi and you'll see what a sweetheart he really is.

You didn't type that with your English accent. Tony thinks you are a yankee.

Re: Dan Harden-Zwolle, Netherlands May 7-8

"What don't cha know?"

Well, what DID I know? I knew IP in theory, I think I had a conceptual framework of the thing but that's about it. And all it took was hands on time and all debate, doubt and scepticism ended (say Mark, don't that sound familiar?). I have good hope for the future and a LOT of work ahead.

And that's about all I'll give ya'll about IP and me. Now let's talk about Dan…

What a funny guy!
This seminar, among with the first seminar of my teacher, was the most significant and profound event in my almost 20 years of doing MA's. Dan is a caring and giving teacher with a wonderful sense of humour. It took all of my intent to just shut the guy up so we could take a breather from laughing!
And here he was, nervous because ‘certain' people had told him the Dutch where "too sophisticated" and "reserved" to be outspoken. All it took was The Sven to give Dan the kind of feedback he was looking for…

Well, maybe not just The Sven. My baby girl totally dominated Dan with her IP
"What do you know?"
