Exclamation 2009 Fall Budosai in Indianapolis, Indiana (Aikido, Karate, Naginata & Sword)

Greetings everyone,

On November 7th and 8th, 2009, the Zen Nihon Budo Renmei / Nippon Seibukan USA Branch (All Japan Budo Federation) will be conducting a Fall Budosai in Indianapolis, Indiana, hosted by the Rishinkan Dojo. This event is open to the public and will offer a rare glimpse into several traditional Japanese and Okinawan budo.

Mini-seminars will be offered in the following arts:
  • Aikido (Aikikai)
  • Karate (Goju-ryu)
  • Naginata (Halberd - Atarashi & Tendo-ryu)
  • Aiki Newaza (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu inspired Aikido ground tactics)
  • Iaido & Kenjutsu (The Art of Japanese Swordsmanship)

Each seminar may be attended individually and are scheduled to last approximately 3 hours each, with top quality instruction from some well-known and highly qualified martial artists. The cost of each seminar is only $25, or $100 for the entire weekend event. All required equipment will be provided to those who do not have their own. All that is required is keikogi or loose fitting clothing.

Instructors include:
  • Michael Jones, 7th-dan (Goju-ryu Karate)
  • Takami Tanner, 5th-dan (Atarashi Naginatado & Tendo-ryu Naginatajutsu)
  • Johanna Weber, 4th-dan (Atarashi Naginatado & Tendo-ryu Naginatajutsu)
  • Dave Johnson, 4th-dan (Aikido - Aikikai)
  • Joseph Lavelle, 3rd-dan (Aikido - Aikikai)
  • Andrew Bryant, 5th-dan / 3rd-dan (Dentokan Iaijutsu / Muso Jikiden Eishin-ryu Iaido)

Saturday:

8:30am -- 9:00am: Registration Check-In
9:00am -- 11:45am: Aikido (J. Lavelle)
11:45am -- 12:30pm: Lunch Break
12:30pm -- 3:30pm: Naginata (T. Tanner / J. Weber)
3:30pm -- 6:30pm: Karate (M. Jones)

Sunday:

8:30am -- 9:00am: Registration Check-In
9:00am -- 11:00am: Aiki Ground Defenses (D. Johnson)
11:00am -- 1:00pm: Iaido & Kenjutsu (A. Bryant)
