Looking for Schools Run By Students of Yoshio Kuroiwa

I'm looking for a list of schools run by senior students of Yoshio Kuroiwa. The locations should preferably be in Japan and the U.S.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Looking for Schools Run By Students of Yoshio Kuroiwa

I'm not aware of anyone in the US who would qualify as a "senior student" of Kuroiwa Sensei.

Aside from a number of students who studied with him in seminars in New York, and to a lesser extent, Washington, DC, in the late Eighties and Nineties. I'm not aware of anyone in the US who would even qualify as "a student of" Kuroiwa Sensei, and further, I'm not aware of anyone whose teaching is rooted in his approach. Of all of the people who seemed to me to be "getting it" when he was teaching here, I can't think of any who are still active in aikido.

Ellis Amdur probably has as much or more familiarity with Kuroiwa's approach as anyone in the US and he has incorporated much of that understanding into his Taikyoku Aikido. Not a one-to-one map, by any means, but probably includes as large a block of Kuroiwa's approach as you'll find in North America.

If anyone is teaching Kuroiwa sensei's approach to aikido, they would most likely be in Tokyo. I believe Fred is correct, Ellis Amdur's Taikyoku Aikido would be as close as you'll come to studying Kuroiwa sensei's method.
