Hardcore Dojo's

HEY all!

I was wondering if anyone could possibly help me with a query. Im a university student in Perth WA and am going on an extensive aikido journey in 6 months time. So, if anyone knows of any aikikai dojo's in the world that live and breathe aikido all day everyday, it would be muchly appreciated! So far i know of New York with Sugano Sensei, and San Diego with Chiba Sensei. I hear rumours such dojo's exist in France and various other parts of europe that train all day, so if anyone can help that would be fantastic!

You've not mentioned the obvious hombus in Japan...

hmm mine does do it a lot nearly whole day but they critize the japanese style alot which i think is a shame

If your heart isn't set on Aikikai, there is the Yoshinakai which has a Kenshusei program in Japan. But if you go to Japan, you might check out the Aikikai Honbu dojo as well. I don't know of many full time schools. I think there might be one in Chicago, but I will have to check. Good luck in your search.

If you pass by Mexico, you´re welcome, we´re Aikikai and we are a full-time school with morning and evening sessions. I don´t know what you mean by hardcore, but if you fancy 10 nages vs 1 uke drills or things like that, you´ll love the early morning (7:00 a.m) class!

T.K. Chiba was a personal student of O Sensei and was the mentor of my Sensei. I don't think it gets much better than that. That's what I would recommend.

I could be wrong, but I don't think there are any dojo in the Chicago area that offer classes all day long (if that's wht you mean by "hard core"). There are a few, like the one where I train, that offer classes every day of the week, with 2-3 classes/day during the week, and 1 class/day on weekends.

The ASU dojo in Washington has 5 hours of class every weekday and 4 hours of class on weekends.

You come to our school in July/August(no air conditioning)and feel like you have practiced 12 hours after only 30 minutes.

AS long as the school fits your schedule then you will be satisfied. My school is not a full time school but it meets my needs and I train four times a week.

Thank you everyone for your contributions, it has definitely given me a few choices of paths to take.

In reply to your message Eric, i will stay with aikikai dojo's, at least until im a 5th dan!
