Re: Aikido in Derbyshire/Yorkshire+general?
Hi Lee,
I don't know about Chesterfield, but I do have a couple of recommendations for Sheffield (if you have your own transport, not too far away at all).
Actually, I'm just seconding Yann and Ruperts' recommendations.
I train at the Shodokan club that Yann mentioned. We're lucky to have an excellent 5th dan Shodokan instructor, and we train in our own dojo right in the middle of town. I'm not sure what state the website is in at the moment, drop me a mail if you're thinking of paying a visit, you'll be most welcome.
The club Rupert mentioned is also a good one.
These two clubs have quite a different 'feel' to the training. Depending on what you're looking for, I think you'd probably find a fairly definite preference for training at one or the other, so I'd suggest checking out a couple of classes at both to see how you feel.
Leeds/York is too long a journey from Chesterfield for regular training imho, ok for a visit, but in your place I'd find the commute a real chore after a while.
As far as I know you're right about "Nishio style", I've not heard of anyone with that particular lineage in this immediate area.
HTH
