Found a nice looking vintage jo.

I found a nice jo at an antique store downtown and was wondering if anyone can identify where or what company made this jo. Obviously it is Japanese made but i was just wondering if any one was familiar with this Jo.

As I am not disclaiming it's authenticity...the presence of the "logos" are evidence it was not used much...are you attempting to sell it?

No not at all i was just wondering if anyone knew where it was made. I actually showed it to my sensei, she questioned it being "vintage" as to them selling similar types of Jo in the past. Even if its not old it got it for $35 what a deal!

Well, $35 is only a good price if it's a good solid hardwood that won't splinter...

Re: Found a nice looking vintage jo.

Maybe some one bought a bunch of these in years past and didn't sell them or need them, so they dumped/sold them to this place. Hence them having several. Some stores like that will only put out one to make it look more unique and to make you think "If I don't get it now, someone else may and then I'm out of luck."

Either way, if it does splinter easily, you didn't spend too much money or if you think it may splinter, use it for solo practice. Interesting looking either way.
