Cedar Rapids, IA Dojos

Hello to all,
thanks to all that have helped me in the past.
I am in Cedar Rapids now for over a week and am looking for a dojo to visit.
Any Cedar Rapidians out there?

Jory

Re: Cedar Rapids, IA Dojos

Jory,

Larry Mendenhall's dojo (Cedar River Aikikai) is at 417 3rd Street SE in Cedar Rapids. Larry was a guest instructor at Grinnell a couple years ago and taught a great class, which involved his telling a couple humorous but relevant stories. While I've never personally visited his dojo, a couple of my Grinnell friends have done so and reported that they had a good experience there.

I would be remiss if I did not also recommend Diana Harris's dojo (the University of Iowa Aikikai) at the University of Iowa Fieldhouse in Iowa City. Because of its location, this dojo is accustomed to welcoming short-term visitors of various aikido styles from all over the world. The instruction is first-rate, and evening classes tend to draw about 15-20 people.

Enjoy!
