A weekend of aikido

with guest instructor: Yoko Okamoto (6th dan, Aikido Kyoto Dojo-cho)

Dates: February 11/12, 2006

Times: Saturday 12:00 to 4:00 pm, Sunday 11:00 am to 2:00 pm

Location: Ainslie Park Leisure Centre, 92 Pilton Drive, Edinburgh EH5 2HF

Cost: Weekend £40 (£30 concessions); One day £30 (£20)
10% reduction for advance payments (up to Feb 3)

Yoko Okamoto started aikido at the World Aikido Headquarters in Tokyo in 1977 with the First Doshu, Kissyomaru Ueshiba. She continued her studies in France with Christian Tissier Shihan from 1979 to 1981. On returning to Japan, Yoko trained back at the World Headquarters, focussing on the late Yamaguchi Shihan and Shibata Shihan. In 1991, she established Portland Aikikai in Oregon, USA, assuming the role of Dojo-cho until her return to Japan in 2003. Currently, Yoko teaches at Aikido Kyoto, which she founded in 2003 for the development of aikido in the Japanese and international community in Kyoto.
