Triangle I'm a keener!

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forum and have been practicing aikido for four years. I started with Aikikai in Victoria BC, and tested for Sankyu there last autumn. A year ago I moved to the Kootenays (south-central BC) and have been attending classes at a Kenkyukai dojo. I recently gave birth to our first child (a baby girl, August 17th), and was able to get back into practice after 5 weeks of healing.

Aikido has been a physical, emotional, and moral challenge to my sense of the world. I love it!

Currently I'm working at posture and softer, more flowing ukemi which always moves to nage's centre.

Great to find this community!
Rebecca

Re: I'm a keener!

Welcome Rebecca, note that your comment "Currently I'm working at posture and softer, more flowing ukemi which always moves to nage's centre." will still hold true after 20 years which is how long I've been trying to get that down. But it is fun getting there

Again welcome to the forum

Re: I'm a keener!

Hi Stephen, great that you know my dojo! It is a beautiful place indeed. I am so lucky to have moved to the middle of nowhere and still have a dojo within 15 minute drive from home.
Takeda shihan was back again this summer for the dojo's 10 year anniversary. I was 9 months pregnant, so I just watched and took photos of the seminar, but it was great to see him move.
Take care and come back for another visit if you're ever in the Kootenays
R.
