question about a particular technique

What is that technique I saw Seagal do so much during his early films. You know the one where his attakers are lunging at him and he throws in the same direction?

No clue what you are talking about.

If it looks like a clothesline, then it is an irimi.
If it looks like he grabs their wrist and flips them over to their outside, then it is most likely a kotegaeshi.

Those two throws are what he maily used in his first few movies such as Above the Law.

yeah sorry I didn't describe it very well. But if you have seen the start of marked for death he also does it there too.

If they are continuing in the same direction as their lung it could be what some will call a kokyunage. I noticed a kaitennage in a movie of his that I had not noticed in previous viewings.

But when I said he throws them in the same direction i went the same direction as the attacker is moving to. If you've seen 'Above the Law' when during Seagal's randori scene he does it twice.

A kokyunage throw. very typically done in group warm ups in many dojos

In gassho

could be ikkyo or sumi otoshi.

What is gassho?

ryokatadori kokyonage

In gassho is a buddhist honorific. It means 'the two palms pressed together'

thats a version of Iriminage that he uses quite often in his movies
