Robert Bryner Sensei will be instructing at The Aikido Ohana on Friday, February 3rd 6:30pm-8:00pm and Sunday, February 5th 8:00am-9:30am.

Robert Bryner began his study of Aikido in 1966, and has trained under a diverse group of teachers beginning with Shuji Maruyama Sensei, uchideshi of Hombu Dojo. Bryner received his shodan and nidan from Maruyama Sensei, sandan (Ki no Kenkyukai) from Fumio Toyoda Sensei, yondan and godan (ASU) from Mitsugi Saotome Sensei. He has also studied Tomiki and Yoshinkan Aikido.

For the last 20 years Bryner has been studying with Shoji Nishio Sensei. Nishio Sensei's emphasis is on the martial arts aspect of aikido and its relationship to jo and sword. He has promoted Bryner to 6th dan in Aikido and 3rd dan in Aikido Toho Iai. Bryner is also a student of Taika Seiyu Oyata, the founder of Ryu-Te, Okinawan self defense art and holds the rank of 7th dan. Bryner teaches at his dojo seven days a week and works full time at UCLA. His martial art school is called, "The Dojo" (Aikido-Shotakekan, Ryu-Te-Ryubukan). The Dojo offers Aikido, Iaido, Ryu-Te, Kobudo, and Kali. Bryner has instructed the California Highway Patrol and was requested to be a member of the LAPD Use of Force Committee. He has produced two videos, "Supplemental Training Methods for Aikido Vol. 1 and Vol. 2".

More information is available from The Aikido Ohana website or the Aikido Hawaii website.
