SO... my dojo is kinda small I mean we proplbly have 20 people in a given class. So, we kinda close , thow I think akidio may lend itself that way ingernal.
I not one to say I feel like I belong anywhere , but I kidna feeling connected more times then not to people and to this dojo. Inharnely to the art of akiod as well.
Last class I was feeling like for the most part I was like that unwelcom fly. You know the one that you can't help but notice , but you relly want gone , but also cant get rid of , and cant relly be bothered to chase it.
I even thin I broke my thumb doing a role.
I wondering is how you tell in genral when it is you that needs to change and when it is the other peroson. I furhter exsprlate this to akido , by I not sure when to flow with the person and when to resist.
any advice?

Makochan Says:
In training Uke and Tori are learning at the same time. Give only enough resistance that makes Uke work, but never block, at the same time work on your ukemi and learn from them. A hard balance to achieve and needs lots of time and patience. Don't worry about changing others just try to be the best person that you can be. If then they don't like you then it is their problem. People not liking others in training don't have the correct spirit for Aikido. Kindest, Billy

I'm with George. Twenty people is a small class? If we have 8 we get crowded! When have events, we borrow the dance class's room next door and double our space! LOL I always assume it's me, even when it's not. I figure even if the other person is doing something wrong, I can work out a lesson from that. So far it's worked, but not always as calmly as I'd like.

I not sure what they want, thats my prbloblem. I offen get espely from higher belts to hold harder or something. However, when I do this I also get I am not going with them. or flowing. SO , I offten left with when do I go with you and when do I like resist. and we have 20 people at max. We dont offten have that many I gessing more like 10 show up or so on most nights. However, conpared to what I heard I recon that is small.

Lan Powers Says:
If folks are ready to add resistance to their training, they WILL ask you to give them a bit more- hold really, really hard, stand-up if you get your balance back..... if the person you are training with wants to "test" their application they will be saying those things to you. If they are working on just-getting- the-movement-right, then they won't want the added pressure of a resistant, hard to move uke.

You think that twenty people a class is small? Jesus: that's be a massive class to me; I guess things are different in the US... I think aikido is all about flowing with the other person - not resisting: if you resist, then that's not harmony: it is disharmony, and therefore not aikido. I would say if how you receive is pissing people off, then perhaps just flow (in the way they want you to): it's their practice, and it'll make the atmosphere in the dojo better for you.
