In General Made the news last night! Entry Tools Rate This Entry

Our local ABC affiliate came to the dojo last night and did an interview with Riggs Sensei and filmed us getting tossed around by him. I think the reporter was rather impressed with what she saw! Here's this guy in his 50's throwing us around, one right after the other... just picking us up and tossing us back down. It was fun... and a good workout!

We worked on a 2 handed lapel grab kokyu throw (couldn't name this if I wanted to) and did this a lot. Between the demonstration for the new crew and working on this.. AND being tired in the first place, I got pooped fast!

Also did yokomenuchi sokumen iriminage: I got this down.(I got the technique down, just not the name. LOL) I love that one. It's the ONE iriminage that I KNOW I can do!

Munetsuki sumiotoshi: probably spelled wrong, but we worked on this as well. Need to not move back on this. More having to do with getting off line and at a 90 degree angle, catch the arm with the thumb, then cut the arm and pivot... cut down at the elbow. Stepping back doesn't help in that.

Overall it was a good workout. I wish they would show that interview again on the 6pm news tonight, but I doubt they will. I did copy it on tape. Need to make copies of it and pass them around.

UGH... Tired today! LOL
I'm counting this as a two hour class. Felt more like three!

Hey Karen! Thanks... and thanks for dropping in too! As for the tsuki... I'm spelling it wrong, I'm sure. I'm refering to the "side entry" form of iriminage, as opposed to just cutting them straight down. Looks very similar to a kokyunage or breath throw, but the finish is the difference... you enter in on the uke and he flies backward. FOUND IT ! Yokomenuchi SOKUMEN Iriminage ! THAT's what I meant. Sorry bout that... I'll go back and edit that if I can. Sowwy for the confusion.
