John Cornish - 50th year of aikido

This year John Cornish celebrates his 50th year of aikido. Cornish Sensei has been teaching at the Budokwai since his return from the Hombu dojo in late 1964. He studied at the Hombu dojo from 1958 until late 1964. He took early morning practice and ukemi for Osawa Sensei and also attended the classes of Waka Sensei, Tohei Sensei and O'Sensei. He was a soto deshi whom also studied at the Kodokan, having been studying judo since 1952, and had Mifune Sensei and Tomiki Sensei as some of his teachers. He partnered Donn Dreager to open the All Japan Games and demonstrated judo kata to the Emperor.
