Who is your Teacher? Not the guy teaching basics, but the person you look to for leadership, the one you want to emulate? What makes her the person you want for your teacher?

I wrote my thoughts on this in this blog:

To out-evolve your teacher should be the greatest compliment.

To out-evolve your teacher should be the greatest compliment.

Within the context of Aikido, just what does 'out-evolve your teacher' mean? How would you go about comparing your Aikido evolution to your teacher's Aikido evolution?

I think that a lot of people would interpret out-evolve as get better than. But again, within the context of Aikido what does that mean?

By 'out-evolve' if you mean out grow the need to be taught Aikido because after years of being taught, you have begun to learn Aikido then I agree. That is the highest compliment you can bestow upon the person who has spent the time and effort to bring you to that point.
