This was a rather nice piece:

Sometimes my students move away and ask me what they can do if there's no Yoshinkan Dojo nearby, I tell them to find the best instruction in anything they can, even if it means training in ballet or cello, because that's the only world class teachers they can find, because what they will learn from those people is how to be world class in anything they do.

Maybe so, but since I´m not in the british Yoshinkan-scene so the novel and a column in Aikido Journal by Ellis Amdur the only place that I´ve heard of him before reading this interview.

But they are good mentions - IIRC: as a former instructor on the riot police course he was present at a big bust up and was able to defuse things because he spoke Japanese and knew senior policemen who he had trained with...

A bit of trivia, David is the translator for book "Total Aikido, The Masters Course".
