I thought this could be an interesting poem by the time we are through. I added the first two lines to get us going, but feel free to add the next line or two! Copy and paste the lines from the post above and then add yours to it. That way, the whole poem is continued instead of having to read each previous post.

Twas the night before Christmas when all through the dojo,
Everyone was training, trying to find their mojo.

Twas the night before Christmas when all through the dojo,
Everyone was training, trying to find their mojo.

The bokken was resting near the kamiza with care,
It is hoped O'Sensei would appreciate it there,

Slightly OT Good friend Andrew Sunter (Sunter-san) is coming to our dojo 2 nights before Christmas. In Japan he is always mistaken for Santa-san with some amusement to be had. We coined the following for his guest visit

Twas two nights before Christmas, when all through the land
Not a dojo was stirring, not even in Japan,
The hakamas were hung by Kamiza with care
In the hopes that Santa-san would be there!
All are welcome (http://www.aikidorepublic.com/blog2010/santacomestotherepublicdec23rd730-9pm) of course.

best and hoping to add a few verses from the thread

There were Jo's made of maple, white oak and ash

The teacher stopped the class for an instructional talk,
The students look to sensei to walk the aikido walk.
Sensei calls me up to take ukemi for him,
As I get up, I have a big goofy grin.

When over by the weapons rack there was heard a great clatter,
That we all stopped our training to see what was the matter.
Over to the weapons rack i flew like a flash,
There were Jo's made of maple, white oak and ash.

I pick each one up and put it back in its place,
I double check its stability, just in case.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature keg of micro brewed beer!

With a Sensei, so lively and quick,
I knew that he was in on the trick.
