The USAF is one of the largest aikido organization in the Americas under the Aikikai organization, having been established in 1976.

The USAF is separated into four main regions in the Americas:

• Eastern Region - headed by Yoshimutsu Yamada shihan
• Midwestern Region - headed by the Midwest Aikido Center
• Western Region - headed by Kazuo Chiba shihan
• Latin America Region - headed by Yoshimutsu Yamada shihan

Its Shihan instructors include and have included:

  • Seiichi Sugano shihan, 8th dan, New York Aikikai
