Sutemi waza, or sacrifice technique*, are techniques whereby the aikidoka falls in order to throw uke. These are considered somewhat judo like in some circles. Not all schools teach sutemi-nage, and some that do only teach them rarely. As a type of kaeshiwaza, uke may use his or her breakfall to throw nage.
