Description: Wendy Palmer covers not only conflict resolution but development of states of inner awareness in her book. Palmer has taught aikido in tough places, including a federal prison for women.

Notable quote: “For Wendy Palmer, the martial arts mat is a laboratory of the human spirit, a place less for demonstrating perfect, invulnerable technique than for exploring the mysteries of imperfection, the uses of vulnerability.”
Keywords: palmer intuitive body conscious embodiment

The book is generally well written but reads more like a book on meditation than Aikido. The insights are not particularly deep either, but a good read for beginners and might pique the interest of Aikido practitioners in expanding their interest in the body rather than endlessly accumulating technique.
