2006-Entries-Video-Sm.jpg

Description: This 3 DVD set was filmed at a seminar in San Antonio, TX focused specifically on the most important element in Aikido technique, the "entry". It contains a wealth of information on how to focus the attention, developing proper sensitivity, the geometry of the entry, exactly what the body is doing at the instant of physical contact, and much, much more.

This is not a basics video set but rather a detailed exposition of the principles active in advanced level technique. While useful for practitioners of any level, the yudansha level student of the art will benefit most from what is contained in this set. Aikido teachers, especially, may find the detailed breakdown of the principles to be useful in their own classes.

Pros: A detailed presentation of the principles of aiki.
Cons: None.

Entries and Power of the Mind have been priceless to my study of aikido and have allow me to get more out of seminars. Looking forward to the next one by Ledyard Sensei.

Pros: Clear, detailed explanations and demonstations.
Cons: None.

I have all three of the Principles of Aiki DVD series, and recommend all of them. In them Ledyard Sensei presents not just the how, but the why. Also what to look for when watching demonstrations of techniques, and some pitfalls to avoid. I highly recommend these to anyone, but particularly to beginners (such as myself), because they help one learn how to learn, and present a picture of "where this is all going" that's very helpful. A huge boost to one's Aikido training.
