Description: Bu Jin Design Women's Dogi Jacket

At last! Whether your art is Aikido, Kendo, Kenjutsu, Iaido, Naginata, Karate or Kung Fu, you can have a comfortable, well-fitting jacket made just for you! The look is completely traditional, but the fit is superb, with subtle alterations that women appreciate.

Until now, women martial artists have had to make do with uniforms designed for their male counterparts. In the spirit of updating tradition, we are very pleased introduce the first uniforms designed especially for women.

New Shape For Women
We have adjusted the shoulders and sleeves, trimmed the waist, shaped the bust, and made the hips roomier. This jacket fits in the right places, stays tucked in, allows for full range of motion, and the front stays closed. It's all about improved performance and comfort!

Pros: Fit/well-designed, quality materials used, well-sewn
Cons: 12oz Cotton (understandably) is stiff when new; will take some time to break in

After having recently retired two Judo-gi style dogi jackets from ripping due to wear and tear, I was very excited to finally be able to try this one for size. I was not disappointed. It is, hands-down, the best-fitting dogi top I\'ve ever owned.

It not only conforms to a woman\'s form wonderfully (at least it did for me), but the Coolmax lining really does help wick moisture away from your skin (I just wish it were on the back and front panels as well; which is where I perspire more than where they\'ve placed it on the inside upper back of the jacket).

Not surprisingly, the fabric is like canvas when new and practically could stand on its own (even after what must be almost half a dozen washings by now)...it\'ll take some time to break in perfectly, but compared to the positive aspects, that\'s nothing.

\"Modesty ties\" on both the inside and side keep everything in place (it\'s nice not to have to tuck everything back in after a vigorous breakfall session and after continuous ryokata/shoulder grabs) so that I can spend less time straightening up in-between practice and more time actually getting your reps in.

Highly recommended for the female aikidoka who wants to get a lot of \"bang\" for her buck.

Pros: Very very well made
Cons: Could be a little more womanly

I've been wearing my Bujin womans gi top for several years now. It holds up beautifully - the fabric and the construction could not be better, and I say so as a seamstress.

How to put this? As an older woman, I wish the shaping didn't assume 20 year old perkiness. And as a woman who prefers not to wear a t shirt over her sports bra, I wish there was a modesty tie at the bustline, where I've had to add one to every gi top I've ever worn.
