Description:
|
In the modern practice of Aikido, the study of the sword has slowly started to disappear from training. In this DVD, William Gleason Sensei (6th dan) demonstrates why the recognition of underlying sword movements is essential to the understanding of many Aikido techniques.
Learn how the movements in traditional swordwork and those in Aikido barehanded techniques are essentially one and the same, and why the true benefit comes from experiencing the proper handling of the sword itself.

I\'ve only had a quick blast through it today whilst working from home , but will have a longer view tonight.
I was very pleased with the quality of the disk, some nice footage of Yamaguchi sensei teaching at the Aikikai Hombu which I hadn\'t seen before. Some very short footage of Noguchi sensei and a lot of good footage of Gleason sensei. Some explanation of Aikido philosophy that we don\'t usually get to hear.
My own sensei is a student of Yamaguchi sensei, and I have been interested in seeing what Gleason sensei does for many years. I like very much what I\'ve seen on this disk so far, and can see the Yamaguchi influence in his movement.
In addition, I ordered it on Friday last week, the DVD was delivered here to the UK today, Tuesday. Gleason sensei did not ask for extra money for international postage either. I am very pleased with both the buying experience and the contents of the disk, I recommend it to all. Excellent value for money.
I truly hope that Gleason sensei comes to visit teh UK at some point, or that I can manage a visit to Boston some time.

good video. could have used a bit more explanation. was a little fast paced in order to fit in a lot of info, but definitely recommended.
------------------------------ To win 100 victories in 100 battles is not the highest skill. To subdue the enemy without fighting is the highest skill.
