Description: From the Publisher:

The author, Kanshu Sunadomari was an uchi-deshi or live-in student of the founder of Aikido, Morihei Ueshiba, prior to World War II. He was one of the first people to begin disseminating the art of Aikido in Japan after the war and, in 1961, he received the rank of 9th dan directly from Ueshiba making him one of the oldest and highest-ranking students of the Founder alive today. In Enlightenment Through Aikido Sunadomari touches on the spiritual teachings of Aikido and how they relate to our own spirituality, our daily lives, and the quest for world peace. The central, recurring themes are lessons about inner tranquility, life’s journey, and world peace. The book also contains some short lyrical poems and teachings composed by the founder of Aikido both during World War II and shortly before his death. In addition, over sixty rare, black and white photographs of the Morihei Ueshiba during his visits to the author’s dojo are included. Many of these photographs are being made public for the first time making this book a valuable historical reference for Aikido enthusiasts.
