Description: This vital new video demonstrates and discusses the lost art of JuKen Dori (bayoneted rifle defense). Practiced and taught by O'Sensei during the Aiki-Budo (1931 - 1941) and early Aikido era (1942 - 1946). JuKen, the wooden rifle and bayonet (alternately termed Mokuju) was used extensively for military training during the Russo-Japanese War and World War II. O'Sensei developed techniques, using the principles of Aiki, to disarm an attack from JuKen. Through the practice of JuKen Dori one can see the two-way influence of O'Sensei's development of Jo-Dori (Staff taking).

JuKen Dori, as presented in this new video, offers a unique platform for studying the roots of O'Sensei's Aikido.
