Description: The text combines with the great photos to create an incredible reading experience. Anyone interested in getting more out of the martial arts than physical technique should read this book.

I really enjoyed the book, for what it was. It was a posthumous effort salvaged from the left-overs of an interesting life, which somehow managed to express the message of O'Sensei, as Terry saw it. I feel the photographs, combined with Terry's experiences, really highlighted the work.

I enjoyed the personality of Mr. Dobson as filtered through the text. Many of the stories hightlight the heart of an individual who finally found himself through Aikido. I found the oft- fragmented statements, to often be a type of koan, and the volume never ceases to make me think.

I have practiced an eclectic form of Korean Karate and self-defense for the last 15 years, and in this non-profit school we use many techniques from Yoshinkan and Tomiki style Aikido. Practicing these harder styles of Aikido only makes me enjoy what Dobson Sensei had to say.

At $22.50 the price is a little steep for most aikidoka, but I found it to be an extremely pleasant investment. As a native New Yorker, it galls me that I never met Mr. Dobson, even though I was in the neighborhood of the Bond St. Dojo at the time he was active there. I guess I was trying too hard to a flower child at the time .

I really loved this book. It was inspiring and very engaging. I enjoy returning to it now and again, opening it at a random place and sampling the wonderful stories and photos. This is the book I loan out to people who ask "What is Aikido?"
